Benidorm Theme Parks
Benidorm has two big parks: Terra Mítica, the Costa Blanca's only full-scale theme park, in the hills behind town, and Aqualandia, one of Europe's longest-running water parks, above Rincón de Loix. Both are a short taxi ride from the hotels and both open only in the warm season.

Aqualandia Benidorm
“Benidorm theme parks” means two places for most visitors: Terra Mítica, a themed park with coasters, shows and pools spread over a hillside behind the resort, and Aqualandia, the veteran water park above Rincón de Loix at the eastern end of town. Neither is far from the hotels. A taxi gets you to either one in minutes, and both have their own parking off the AP-7 and N-332.
Two smaller animal parks fill out a longer stay. Mundomar, next door to Aqualandia, has dolphins, sea lions and exotic birds and is sold as a combo with the water park. Terra Natura, on the edge of town, is an animal park.
| Park | From the city/resort | How to get there | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Terra Mítica | Hills behind Benidorm, 10–15 min by taxi | Taxi; AP-7/N-332 by car; TRAM to Benidorm + taxi | Coasters, shows, mixed-age groups |
| Aqualandia | Above Rincón de Loix, short taxi ride | Taxi or local bus; on-site parking | Slides and pools on a hot day, all ages |
The two parks
Terra Mítica
Terra Mítica opened in 2000 and is themed on the ancient Mediterranean, with zones for Egypt, Greece and Rome, plus Iberia and The Islands in high season. Magnus Colossus, a huge wooden coaster, leads the line-up, followed by the inverted Titánide, the giant Synkope pendulum and the Rapids of Argos. Around 1,700 square metres of pools are included with entry, which helps on a 35°C afternoon. Allow a full day.
Aqualandia
Aqualandia opened in 1985, which makes it one of Europe’s oldest water parks still running. The headliner is Verti-Go, a trapdoor capsule slide among Europe’s tallest. Around it are the Big Bang tube complex, the Kamikaze, the Black Hole tubes, the Zig-Zag racing slides, rapids, a wave pool and large kids’ zones. The site is hilly and shaded by trees, so wear comfortable footwear. Plan 5–7 hours. Lockers, sunbed zones and food are the paid extras inside, so bring towels and water from your hotel.
A one-day plan
Aqualandia in August:
- Arrive for opening and go straight up to Verti-Go and the Kamikaze while everyone else is still claiming sunbeds.
- Work down through Big Bang and the Black Hole tubes before 11:30. The stairs are brutal in the midday sun.
- From 12:00 to 16:00, spend the queue peak at the wave pool, on the rapids and at lunch.
- After 16:00, as day-trippers leave, go back for short-wait re-rides until closing.
Staying a week? Use the Aqualandia + Mundomar combo and spend the second day next door with the dolphins and sea lions.
Terra Mítica: ride Magnus Colossus and Titánide first, then work zone by zone rather than zig-zagging the steep site. Save the Rapids of Argos and the pools for mid-afternoon, and ride Magnus Colossus again in the last hour, when the evening light falls across the bay.
If you only have time for one
- July or August, families with children under 10: Aqualandia. It needs no scheduling, has shallow pools for small children and slides for older ones.
- Teens, coaster fans, or groups who get bored by pools: Terra Mítica, ideally July to September when all five zones are open.
- June visitors: Aqualandia gives you the full park. Terra Mítica runs only three zones that month, though it’s cheaper and quieter.
Seasons and timing
- Aqualandia: open roughly May to early October. June and September have warm water and a fraction of the August queues. Monday and Tuesday tend to be the quietest days.
- Terra Mítica: open from late spring to early autumn, with the full park from July to September. Check the calendar, since opening days vary at the edges of the season, and buy a dated online ticket to confirm the park is open on your day.
- August is peak for both, when Spanish and British holidays coincide with Benidorm’s busiest weeks. Slide queues at Aqualandia can reach 45 minutes by midday.
- Getting there: Alicante–Elche airport is 50–60 minutes away, and the TRAM light rail connects Alicante with Benidorm.

FAQ — Benidorm Theme Parks tickets
What theme parks are in Benidorm?
Terra Mítica, a themed park with coasters, shows and pools, and Aqualandia, a large water park. Mundomar, a marine-animal park, sits next to Aqualandia, and Terra Natura is an animal park on the edge of town.
How do I get to Terra Mítica from Benidorm?
It's a 10–15 minute taxi from most hotels. Drivers take the AP-7 or N-332 to the park's large car park. Local bus routes change between seasons, so ask your hotel.
Is Terra Mítica fully open in June?
Not entirely. In June only the Egypt, Greece and Rome zones usually operate. The full five-zone park opens from July to September.
When is Aqualandia open?
Roughly May to early October, typically from 10:00 with later closing in high summer. June and September have warm water and far shorter queues than August.
What is the Aqualandia and Mundomar combo?
A combined ticket for the water park and the Mundomar marine park, which sit side by side. It costs noticeably less than buying the two tickets separately at the gate.
Which is better for young kids, Terra Mítica or Aqualandia?
Both work. Aqualandia has shallow pools and mini-slides, and Terra Mítica has junior versions of most big rides plus pools. For under-5s, a pool-and-splash day at Aqualandia is the easier option.
